Paint damage can range from a surface scrape to a repaired panel that needs refinishing. At our West Los Angeles auto body shop, we review the affected area and explain how the body repair and paint work fit together.
Clear assessments. A considered repair plan. Care in the finished result.

Paint work starts with the panel
A dented or scraped panel may need body repair before refinishing. The condition of the underlying surface, the depth of the damage and existing paint all affect the work required. A close inspection helps distinguish a minor surface issue from damage that needs a broader repair.

Color matching and the surrounding finish
A vehicle’s paint appearance depends on its color, finish and condition. Paint matching considers the damaged area alongside surrounding panels. Our team discusses the proposed refinishing area and whether adjacent areas need attention as part of the repair plan.

Show us the damage in clear light
For a preliminary photo review, include a full view of the affected side, a close-up of the scratch or scrape and another angle in natural light. Reflections can hide paint damage, so several clear photographs are more useful than one tight close-up.

Does every scratch need repainting?
No single repair method fits every scratch. Depth, panel condition and the existing finish determine the appropriate work. Photos help with the initial review, while inspection confirms the repair scope.
